As you will be aware, from 1st November 2022, NHS England are planning that all patients over 16 should have automatic access to prospective medical records.
The LMC (Local Medical Committee) is gravely concerned that commencing this programme on 1st November, amid the current workload and workforce crisis, is too significant a clinical and information risk.
As a result of this advice, Sussex Primary Care is asking all practices to block all patients from automatic prospective access (unless prior access given) as a matter of urgency in order to protect our most vulnerable patients. Once the notes have been reviewed, patients can be granted access.
Patients can continue to request access to their medical records in the usual way but please bear with us so that we can do this safely.
